Lewis Richardson is a dedicated and accomplished boxer representing Team GB. Born and raised in Colchester, England, Lewis initially took up boxing to stay fit for football, a sport he played at the county level. His journey in boxing began at a young age, and he had his first bout at the age of 13. His early success in boxing led him to focus solely on the sport after winning the National Schoolboy Championships in 2012.

Lewis’s career is marked by resilience and determination. Despite suffering three stress fractures in his back in 2018, which sidelined him for most of the year, he made a strong comeback by winning gold medals at the 2018 GB Boxing Championships and the 2019 Olympic Test Event in Tokyo. His perseverance earned him a spot on the GB Boxing squad, where he continued to excel.

In 2022, Lewis had a stellar year, winning a silver medal at the European Championships in Yerevan and a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. These achievements solidified his position as one of Britain’s top middleweight boxers. He continued his pursuit of Olympic glory and successfully qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics at Light-Middleweight.

Lewis went on to successfully win an Olympic Medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Winning two impressive bouts against Serbia and Jordan. Lewis faced Mexican, Marco Verde in the Olympic semi-final in front of 15,000 fans on the centre court of the famous Roland Garros stadium. Lewis’s semi-final was shown live on BBC One on Tuesday 6th August at 8pm with an estimated audience of over 4 million viewers.

In addition to his boxing career, Lewis balances his sporting ambitions with academic pursuits. He has a Master’s degree in Sports Business Management from Sheffield Hallam University.
