Lewis boxed in his first bout of the Olympic Games on Wednesday 31st July against a tough and very experienced opponent from Serbia.
It was a very technical bout with both boxers waiting for their opponent to make the first move. Lewis was 3-2 down on the judges scorecards after round one. At the end of round two, Lewis was on the better side of a 3-2 split, going in to the final round with it level on three judges scorecards.

Lewis continued to use his long boxing range and technical skills to secure the bout 3-2 in his favour. You can watch the full third round on the BBC page Click Here.
Lewis said in his post-bout interview “I’m over the moon to get the first victory out of the way, I’m extremely happy and proud of myself. It was a very close bout. We knew he was an extremely classy operator, and we knew it was going to be technical. I just stayed disciplined, and stayed focused.”

Lewis’ next bout will be in the quarter-final stage of the Olympic Games. He will be boxing against the opponent from Jordan. A win will secure an Olympic medal and progression into the semi-finals.
Lewis’s will be boxing at 19:30 on Saturday 3rd August against Zeyad Eashash of Jordan.
