Hello everyone,
It was our first day in the Olympic Games Athlete Village and what an amazing day it’s been!
We left our final training camp in Reims yesterday morning and got applauded onto the bus by the hotel staff, which was a really nice touch.
We entered the Athletes Village and it felt like we’d entered a little planet of elite athletes, which was pretty special. There are still a lot of athletes to arrive so it’s nowhere full just yet and many stars yet to come. I did see Daniil Medvedev the tennis World Number 4 so I got a selfie with him, but still on the lookout for Carlos Alcaraz and Rafa Nadal.
The Team GB block is all together for all the GB athletes so I have bumped into Tom Daley and Andy Murray. I’m sure I’ll be fan-boy’ing over more stars to come.
The food has been amazing. You name it, they have it. All freshly prepared. There’s no McDonalds on campus this time, which is probably a good thing. Everything is free and provided to the athletes, which is amazing.
We arrived at our apartments and the cardboard beds are comfortable, so had a good night’s sleep. (yes, the beds are made of cardboard, not the mattresses). Then on arrival, we got a handful of gifts. It feels like wherever we go we’ve been gifted some amazing things. Included in that was a brand new limited edition Samsung mobile phone with personalised Olympic rings on the back. Extremely grateful!
Overall just feeling super positive, super confident and super relaxed. Really grateful and really proud to be representing Great Britain at the greatest show on earth.
The draw for the boxing will be done on the 25th of July (Thursday), which is when I will find out who and when I’ll be boxing. Just looking forward to everything that’s coming my way in the next two weeks, and further forward.
Really appreciate all of the support that’s coming from back home.
